Giraffe, buffalo, warthog, waterbuck, black-and-white colobus, flamingos on the lakes when conditions are right. No lion circuit.
Ngurdoto Crater, Momella lakes, montane forest and the mass of Mount Meru.
Walking safaris and canoeing are the point. Meru climbs are a multi-day add-on with a specialist operator.
Cooler than the rift floor; mist on Meru is common.
Drier months for views of Kilimanjaro and clearer lake edges.
